Bloody Brilliant

I have just finished reading Harry Potter and the half blood prince, the 6th and penultimate book in the Harry Potter set. It was absolutely brilliant, maybe even the best so far and they've all been fantastic. I can't believe that I am going to have to wait so long for the final book to be published. For those of you yet to succumb to the Harry Potter phenomenon I strongly urge you to go out and buy the whole set, you'll not look back I promise you. I had to be bullied into reading them by Ross at first as I didn't want to waste my time reading what I thought were children's books. I only gave in while I was pregnant and bored and was instantly addicted! I turned from skeptic to fanatic over night! I have since converted both my sister and my mother to the wonders of the magical world of Harry Potter. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Nightmare Weekend

This weekend turned out to be a bit of a fiasco. The plug hole in our shower got blocked so badly that the water wouldn't go down it at all so I went to B&Q and bought some super duper strength drain unblocker. Anyway to cut a long story short, we put the stuff down the plug hole and waited over night, it hadn't seemed to have made any difference by the morning so Ross put a tiny bit more down. He ran down the stairs shouting "I've done it, the water's going down" and as he hit the bottom step all our electricity went off.

We thought this was a bit strange but weren't really too surprised because whenever we try to fix something in this house something else breaks in the process. When we tried to change the lightfitting in the bathroom we ended up with no lights in there or on the landing. When we fixed a gas leak in the fire our boiler broke because it had to be turned off and wouldn't come back on. When we fixed a leak in our roof we ended up with broken and blocked guttering. The list goes on but I think you get the picture.

Anyway we managed to turn the electricity back on with the help of an electrician over the phone and managed to isolate the problem, it was the down stairs lighting ring. So we had no lights down stairs at all but at least everything else was working. I then went upstairs to have a shower and heard Ross shrieking from downstairs. I ran down to find that water was running down the ceiling of the utility room and right down the light fitting (doesn't take a genius to work out why the lights went out does it). The upshot is that the super duper drain unblocker seems to have dissolved our pipes! This really is the house that twat built.

On top of all this I had pre ordered Ross and I a copy of the new Harry Potter book over a month ago, to be delivered on the day of release (Saturday). We had been looking forward to getting our new books for months. Well of course they didn't turn up. I felt like weeping. My lovely sister went out and stole me a copy from Steve's shop and brought it over on Saturday night though and Ross and I sat in bed sharing it. It's really good so far too.

On the plus side though I had my first driving lesson and it went really well. I really liked the instructor and I booked 10 lessons in advance. I'm really determined to do it this time!

Oh My God!

I booked my first driving lesson today with a random instructor I found in the phone book. It is to take place at 9.15am on Sunday. I'm actually ridiculously scared about it!

I'm Back!

I have been waiting to do something interesting before posting anything, however nothing interesting has presented itself in the last few weeks so I thought I'd give you lucky people an update anyway! Any spare time over the last month has been spent decorating our living room. Ross and I painted it

and Bili and Ross laid the new floor (Bless them, it was a nightmare)

I've also been spending a bit of time pottering around in the garden and it's really started to look lovely up there now.

Pretty flowers!

I have also been brainwashed into taking up quilting by my grandmother. I'm finding it very therapeutic and am currently making some cushion covers

Still awake? There you have it, old before my time. In other news I am on a mission to find a good driving instructor, I have decided to do something constructive with my time and learn to drive. It has to be done. God help you all when I'm mobile, I'll be visiting you all the time! Xx
